About us
A place for a new beginning
What is hope house?
Hope House is a transitional program in Porto Alegre that provides men in recovery with a safe, structured environment as they take the next steps toward a healthy, responsible, and independent life.
At Hope House, we walk alongside each man as he rebuilds his life. Through practical support, guidance, community, and faith, we help participants strengthen relationships, develop responsibility and independence, and build a foundation for a new beginning.
“I will... transform the valley of trouble into a gateway of Hope.” Hosea 2:15
our history
Hope House grew out of a need we saw while supporting men in treatment for substance addiction. Many made significant progress during treatment but struggled to maintain their sobriety and rebuild their lives once they returned to their community.
We realized that, for many men, treatment was only the first step. What was missing was a bridge between treatment and independent living—a place where they could live for a period of time, receive ongoing support, and develop the practical skills they needed to rebuild their lives.
That is how Hope House began in Porto Alegre: as a second-stage transitional program providing the time, structure, support, and opportunities men need to build a strong foundation for a new beginning.
our mission
To provide a safe and structured environment where men can rebuild their lives, develop independence, and move toward a healthy, responsible, and self-sufficient future.
To see lives restored and men equipped to live with purpose, responsibility, and hope, making a positive difference in their families and communities.

Our program
A Second Step Toward Independence
Hope House is a second-stage transitional program for men who are completing treatment in a therapeutic community and want to continue building a strong foundation for recovery as they prepare for independent living.
Participants enter the program through a referral from their therapeutic community, followed by interviews with the candidate, his family, and the leadership of the referring organization. Each person is considered individually to determine whether Hope House is the right next step in his journey.
While living at Hope House, each participant moves through a gradual process of growth and preparation. In the beginning, the focus is on establishing healthy routines and strengthening the foundations of recovery. Over time, participants begin working, managing their own finances, taking on greater responsibility, and preparing to live independently.
Hope House is not a treatment center, nor is it simply a place to live. It is a bridge between treatment and independent living—a supportive environment where each man has the time, structure, guidance, and opportunities he needs to put into practice what he has learned.
